on my way to omaha, again...dang pete,
couldn't you have planned the birth of your latest addition during one of my months off!

the 4 a.m. alarm was a bit too early this morning,
thank goodness for drugs to knock me out on the plane.
sure hope i don't get delayed, i have some tia/ava bonding planned this evening.

Fundraising Fun!

oh my, the students were out to get us!

we sold 400 balloons, exactly, today.
pretty amazing for the first go round!

for a dollar a balloon, the kids could purchase and throw a water balloon at the teacher of their choice (of the available participants).

they went wild...purchasing 1-13, in some cases!

it was mayhem, but since this was our practice round,
the next session in june, should be somewhat smoother,
even with three times that many kids involved!

these girls didn't get their balloons in the morning,
so i had to take it alone this afternoon,
it wasn't too bad, only 12 balloons!

it was my first day of "official" training, a whole twenty minutes...my kind of workout!

money raised for team in training $535...only $2465 to go!

Team in Training Kick-Off

well, we went to our team in training kick-off this morning. we got to meet most of the people from our region, and then were split up into our local training groups. our honored team member, kyle, was unable to attend, but we did get to meet the mother of our honored angel, laikin. we heard from a few members who are currently in remission, and found out what the training schedule will entail. it was quite an emotional morning...you know me, i couldn't stop sniveling for most of it.

so, i didn't make to my first volunteering gig...came home from work yesterday with a raging case of north and southbound traffic, had a fever, major headache, and was quite dysfunctional, didn't feel that much better today, so i decided to come home instead of going to the blues festival. i am feeling somewhat better now, so i hope i can make it for my other session in the morning.

team in training

hello, everyone!

well, this team in training thing is crazy! i was never expecting a $3000 fundraising campaign, but i think it's going well so far! lots of activities in the works! if barack and hillary can raise millions, i'm sure i can reach my goal!

from what i have gathered, we raise the money, meet with our training team every saturday, and then complete "assignments" during the week, hopefully...get a few people together during the week to walk with!

i have only gone to our intro meeting, we have our kick-off event on saturday, so hopefully i will learn more. i'm pretty excited, looking forward to getting on a schedule, getting healthy(er), and doing something for a good cause!

they were looking for people to work at a blues festival this weekend, so i signed up...quite the little joiner i've become, but hey, it's good to step out of my comfort zone once in a while, plus...blues on the beach, what could be better?!

money raised for team in training $210...only $2790 to go!

my happenings.

today is mother's day, and as always...i am blessed to have a great mother, even though i didn't get to spend the day with her.

thank goodness for verizon...she's just a phone call away...several times a day!

Happy Mother's Day, Everyone!

funniest event of this weekend: while at the grocery store, with a friend, i see a girl looking at me, looking at my shirt (with my school logo on the front,) and i realize she is the daughter of a rec aide at my school, so i ask if she is aide's daughter, she says, "she's over there," and walks the other way. i say hey to the aide, who is standing in front of the atm machine, she says hey back, and i get in line. as i wait in line, the aide lets out a loud fart. the older woman in front of me, the checker, and i all look at each other in astonishment, and then the older woman says, "She should have taken some tums." the checker chuckles, i chuckle, my friend wants to know what is going on. i tell her to hold on. not sure how the aide is going to deal with the situation, i go about my business. a few seconds later, the aide turns around and asks where her daughter has gone, pretending as if nothing had just occurred. however, i am completely mortified...i have to fess up that i actually know and am speaking to, the woman that just farted at the atm machine.

oh, and to make the story better...come to find out, the aide is the great aunt of my friend's niece and nephews (on the mother's side.)

excitement of the weekend: went to see brandy's cousin's band play at some warehouse in san bernardino. feeling a little old when i would have rather been in bed at 10:00 on a saturday night, but the music was good, and i was actually in bed by midnight!

miles logged this weekend: 7.33
money raised for Team in Training: $135...only $2865 to go!
