San Francisco Part 9...Nike Women's Marathon

Here are my pix from race day...Finally!

San Francisco Part 8...Team in Training Pasta Party

Saturday night consisted of a Team in Training pasta party at the convention center.
We were all surprised upon arrival.
Hundreds of people had gathered to cheer us in.
Bells, whistles, cheering...chaos!
It was very overwhelming.
So many people there to cheer us on for helping their cause!

Dinner was great.
Good food.
Amazing speakers.
Fun memories.
All 5000+ Team in Training Members and guests in one gigantic room.
The Nike Women's Marathon and Team in Training raised more than 18 million dollars for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Pretty amazing to be a part of.

San Francisco Part 7...Pier 39

Had a little time before our team meeting,
so we decided to check out Pier 39.
Ate lunch and hopped on an electric trolley.
(not sure if that's what it was called)Oops. Jumped off too soon. Clock says 2:24...meeting's at 3:00.Waited until 2:45 and then had to take a taxi.
Weren't gonna make it waiting for a trolley.
FYI: We were the first ones to the meeting.

San Francisco Part 4...Friday Night

On Friday night, we headed out sight seeing. Made it to the Golden Gate Bridge right as the sun was going down. Took a few pictures and then headed to Fisherman's Wharf for dinner. After dinner we went back to the hotel, where we happened upon a "Senior" prom. Literally.

San Francisco Part 3...Room with a View

Heather and I had a great view from our 23rd floor room.
We left the curtains open the whole time so we could admire the city below.

Even the fog looked good on Saturday morning.
I won't bore you with the other 50 pictures of the same thing!

San Francisco Part 2...Architecture Tour

After hitting the Marathon Expo-tique,
I went on a walking tour of San Francisco
to check out some of the architecture in the financial district.
The other girls ditched out, so I went on my own.
So glad I did...I learned lots of little tidbits about the city.
These are a few pictures of my favorite sights.
I had fun editing to make them look more glamorous.

San Francisco Part 1...Arrival

Just landed at the Oakland Airport,
ready to head to the hotel to drop off our belongings.

Dropped our bags off
with the concierge
and
headed to the Expo-tique at Union Square.

Headed to Niketown to find our names on the wall.

Thank goodness they were alphabetized.
Stay tuned for Part 2

Santa Anas plus Fire...Ughhhhhh.

Sorry for the poor quality....the one time I don't have my camera!
Had to use the phone.

Just a couple of pics of the fire that had the freeway closed down...
while I was trying to get home.

My 20 minute drive home from the mall lasted nearly an hour and a half.Lots of black smoke.
The side streets are a mess.
The center of this pic is the fire climbing a power pole.
From what I see on the news,
all of this has grown and embers are catching new things on fire.

UPDATE: Glad I missed all of this.

Pow Wow

Went to the San Manuel Pow Wow today. It was pretty cool. They had contests for dancing, drumming and singing, and some delicious Indian frybread...mmmmmm.

Colorful Regalia

This little guy was the cutest,
off to the side trying to dance like the big guys.
So many braids.
Drumming and Chanting
I thought this was Randolph...you know, from Free Willy.
I was wrong.

This was kinda cool,
those were his great grandfather's feathers,
they've been passed down from generation to generation,
for ceremonies like this.
Interesting afternoon.
Since our weather has cooled off,
we wussed out when the sun went down.
Seriously, as I write this...It's only 56 degrees.

Seriously.

I had a visitor in my classroom this morning.I totally flipped out,
was screaming at the top of my lungs...so GROSS!
Not sure if they caught it while we were gone,
or if it's gonna show back up tomorrow!

Who gives a rat's ass, you ask?
I DO!
Nasty.
It's probably gonna crawl up my pant leg while I'm teaching!

Field Trip

My class went on a field trip to the L.A. Zoo today.
We had lots of fun, saw lots of animals.

Loved this giraffe, great coloring.

Cheese.
Always amazing.
Thank goodness for the fence.
So pretty, so noisy, so stinky.
Pondering life.
Creepy spider, it was in a huge web, but the camera didn't focus on that.
Roar.

The kids had a blast.
I had a blast.
All in all, it was a great day!
