Things Are Getting Crazy

I witnessed a robbery this evening.Okay, okay...it wasn't quite like that...while i was checking out of walgreens, a man stole a fan from the front of the store...code 99...that's what the checker called out...very nonchalantly...code 99...mr. king (he was the manager)...when mr. king got to the front of the store...30 seconds later...he asked what had happened, walked outside and then just came back in...no biggie...so then...stupid me says, "ah...i didn't know it was a gift-with-purchase day."

haaaaaaaaaa...i cracked my sh*t up...the crowd went wild...haaaaaaaaaaa.

i gotta take a break from this place...42 hours and counting down.

Ughhhhhhhhh...What A Day...

...I'm All Shook Up....I never signed up for this earthquake thing...I'd take a tornado over an earthquake any day.

Click here to watch the quake in real time.

My kids were at P.E. and I was sitting in my classroom when it hit, a little creepy, i felt my chair wobble, the ceiling rippled and it was gone, all in about 7 seconds, longest, loudest one i've ever been in....it was scary, but we all survived.

FYI....

What Should I Do Before, During, And After An Earthquake?

What to Do Before an Earthquake

  • Make sure you have a fire extinguisher, first aid kit, a battery-powered radio, a flashlight, and extra batteries at home.
  • Learn first aid.
  • Learn how to turn off the gas, water, and electricity.
  • Make up a plan of where to meet your family after an earthquake.
  • Don't leave heavy objects on shelves (they'll fall during a quake).
  • Anchor heavy furniture, cupboards, and appliances to the walls or floor.
  • Learn the earthquake plan at your school or workplace.

What to Do During an Earthquake

  • Stay calm! If you're indoors, stay inside. If you're outside, stay outside.
  • If you're indoors, stand against a wall near the center of the building, stand in a doorway, or crawl under heavy furniture (a desk or table). Stay away from windows and outside doors.
  • If you're outdoors, stay in the open away from power lines or anything that might fall. Stay away from buildings (stuff might fall off the building or the building could fall on you).
  • Don't use matches, candles, or any flame. Broken gas lines and fire don't mix.
  • If you're in a car, stop the car and stay inside the car until the earthquake stops.
  • Don't use elevators (they'll probably get stuck anyway).

What to Do After an Earthquake

  • Check yourself and others for injuries. Provide first aid for anyone who needs it.
  • Check water, gas, and electric lines for damage. If any are damaged, shut off the valves. Check for the smell of gas. If you smell it, open all the windows and doors, leave immediately, and report it to the authorities (use someone else's phone).
  • Turn on the radio. Don't use the phone unless it's an emergency.
  • Stay out of damaged buildings.
  • Be careful around broken glass and debris. Wear boots or sturdy shoes to keep from cutting your feet.
  • Be careful of chimneys (they may fall on you).
  • Stay away from beaches. Tsunamis and seiches sometimes hit after the ground has stopped shaking.
  • Stay away from damaged areas.
  • If you're at school or work, follow the emergency plan or the instructions of the person in charge...make sure this is all clear...ahead of time!!!!!
  • Expect aftershocks.

weekend update...in case you care.

another fun filled saturday.
i walked 7 miles.
went to a birthday party for a six year old.
went to the beach with some friends...good times.

Taken from Balboa Pier...Newport Beach

Beautiful View of the Sun Going Down

Lots of beach bunnies out and about.

Summer Breeze...Makes Me Feel Fine...

Taking the ferry to the other side.
Not a good idea to sit in your car, on a ferry, after you've just eaten.
At least there wasn't the smell of regurgitated M&Ms wafting through the air.
(Right, DAD?)

Out to Sea...for all of 5 minutes.

Super Saturday.

i walked six miles in the morning,
went wine tasting in irvine in the afternoon,
(shelley, brandy and i...after wine tasting, we were all feeling a bit giggly)

and then out for a friend's birthday in L.A. in the evening.
(with marci)

good times.

Cheap Trick, Heart and Journey.

Went to see all three bands perform in Irvine last night.
It was fab...they all sounded great,
but Journey was awesome.
Never thought I'd say those words!

Here are a couple of songs from last night.
Not my recordings, I got them from YouTube.

The crowd was amazing.
Some great people watching took place.

Camping in Big Bear.

My first time driving in the mountains.
i made it without swallowing my tongue.
it was lovely, but the clouds rolled in right when we got there.
the thunder was great.
trying to stay dry.
a tad bit soggy.
the sky cleared up.
the rest of the night was pleasant.
badminton.
it started to rain again this morning, thank goodness i found my hat!
all in all it was a good weekend.
a relaxing little getaway.
